CAVA volunteers must complete a 30 hour training to become a certified rape crisis counselor through the New York State Department of Health.  CAVA offers this training at least once a year, sometimes twice a year depending on the number of prospective volunteers.  An application can be sent to you or you are welcomed to stop by our office to pick one up.  The application must be completed in full and once received by the volunteer coordinator, prospective volunteers will be contacted to schedule an interview. CAVA volunteers are dedicated, compassionate, and non-judgmental.  It takes a special person to become a CAVA volunteer and we are always  looking for those special people.
